Friday's Finalists: Full Report

A failure of my data processing system overnight blocked completion of a full analysis of the 1,269 symbols in my analytical universe. I've re-run the analysis, and here is the full report, which was intended for posting Friday morning after the opening bell, on Feb. 6.

Of the eight symbols under consideration for the later stages of analysis (see "Friday's Prospects: Full Report" for the early stages), none made it past the post to a full write-up.

One failed confirmation: ST

Three showed momentum contrary to their signal: APD, IVZ and VTI.

Two had insufficient open interest to support my strategies: RPM and PACW.

One has an overly wide bid/ask spread: IDTI.

The lone bear signal, TZA, gets struck from the list of prospects immediately. It is a bear fund, meaning it moves opposite the market, and a 3x fund, meaning it is leveraged. I provide my own directionality and leverage through options and so don't trade such funds.

The one symbol from my list of innovative companies, NICE, showed strongly contrary momentum.

This report is late, as discussed in the note above. As it turns out, there were no missed opportunities. Good to know.
