9/20 Almanac

On Monday, Sept. 20: Housing market index.

There are 26 days before the October options expire, 61 the November and 89 the December.

On the jump, market stats, econ reports, and the trading calendar . . .

Stats

Blue chip stocks (SPY) closed the latest regular session down 0.2% from the prior close. During the day SPY traversed 0.9% in a net move down of 0.5%.

The day's extremes: Open $113.04, high $113.15, low $112.18, close $112.49.

Econ reports:

The National Association of Home Builders polls its members to get an assessment of conditions that impact home sales. Released at 10 a.m.

The week overall is dominated by housing: Starts on Tuesday, existing home sales on Thursday and new home sales on Friday, but the Federal Open Market Committee meets and announces on Tuesday, and the durable goods report will be out on Friday. All can move markets.

Trading Calendar:

By my rules, at this point in the cycle I can trade October covered calls, iron condors, and diagonal, butterfly, calendar and vertical spreads. Also, November straddles and single calls or puts. Shares, of course, are good anytime.

Enjoy the weekend!
