4/22 Watchlist: Stocks

Two additions to the Watchlist today: COH and XRT in the bull list.

I had one wash, GE, and a failure, UNG. One of the stocks of interest has been dropped, COST, having outlived its reason for being on the Watchlist.

Stocks that showed Parabolic SAR bull signals:
  • A, analysis.
  • COH, analysis. New today.
  • F, analysis.
  • * GE, analysis. Trading in a very narrow range with a parabolic sar bear signal. By the Watchlist rules, I'm exiting for a 0.3% gain. The bull signal was a WASH. (I also hold a bull call spread position, and I'm not exiting that but shall instead adjust it if the price moves down.)
  • KBE, analysis.
  • KRE, analysis. A nice rise today to a new high on the three-month chart.
  • * QQQQ, analysis.
  • WSM, analysis.
  • XLE, analysis. I pegged this as a $56 to $60 iron condor. It is above the max-profit range.
  • XLY, analysis.
  • XRT, analysis. New today.

Stocks showing a Parabolic SAR bear signal:
  • CIEN, analysis.
  • * EEM, analysis.
  • UNG, analysis. This etf is showing a bull flag from Person's Proprietary Signal, which will often go hand in hand with a switch in the psar. I'm exiting with a 4% loss from theoretical entry. The bear signal was a FAILURE. (You know, UNG has done this to me before. I think it is an etf of evil karma.)

Stocks of interest (I wouldn't necessarily trade them):
  • COST, analysis. Bear. The rationale for entering was that the price had fallen below the 50-day moving average. The stock did a 1.7% price spike today. So I'm removing from the Watchlist. Since it was added as a stock of interest, I don't take a success or fail rating. The low was 1.3% below theoretical entry, on a day that saw a lower low and a higher high with a net rise. For the careful trader, that would have been a signal to exit, I think.
  • FNM, analysis. Agnostic. FNM is developing some volatility again, having moved 5.9% intra-day low to high. The price pattern remains consistent with a symmetrical triangle
  • * PALM, analysis. Agnostic. Buyout candidate.
