BBY Watch

I just want to note that despite all the hype about BBY -- Best Buy is the only U.S. retail outlet besides Apple itself to sell the iPad -- the stock has . . .

trend
BBY $44.09

  1. In a three-day rise managed to stay below the high of $44.79 set on March 25, before the iPad went on sale.
  2. Has shown a Parabolic SAR bear signal for four straight days.
Having said that,
  1. The macd is rising again
  2. The stochastic today just tipped into overbought territory
  3. The pps has been in bull phase since Feb. 16.

Stalking the Black Swan: Research and Decision Making in a World of Extreme Volatility
Market analyst Kenneth Posner creates a new framework for managing extreme risk based on lessons learned in the recent collapse of capitalist finance.

I don't hate this stock. A bull signal would be with the trend, and with the adx at 52 and earnings no longer looming, I would give it strong consideration for a directional bull play.

But not with that psar bear signal hanging over the chart.

Abbreviations:
psar - Parabolic Stop and Reverse
adx - Average Directional Index
pps - Person's Proprietary Signal
ma20 - 20-day moving average
macd - Moving Average Convergence-Divergence
mfi - Money Flow Index
sto - Fast Stochastic

About the glance: The colors indicate the state of each signal.

  • trend: Determined by the 5-day moving average, green for up, red for down, yellow for sideways
  • adx: orange for above 30-up, blue for 20-down, purple for in the middle. Red is most prone to whipsaws
  • psar, pps, macd: green for bull mode, red for bear
  • sto: green for overbought, red for oversold, yellow for the neutral zone.
